On July 29, 2013, entrusted by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Provincial Department of Agriculture, the Provincial Bureau of Agricultural Machinery carried out the project approval demonstration for the project of "Research on the New Type of Water and Dry Dual-purpose Tractor and Its Key Technologies" proposed by the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Engineering Design, a subordinate unit of Hubei University of Technology. Chen Yuan, the dean of the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Engineering Design, introduced that the project team would spend three years researching and developing a new type of four-wheel drive tractor that is suitable for operation in both paddy fields and dry lands in the south and can be switched freely. It will serve as a supporting power equipment for agricultural machinery tools and transportation tools in the hilly and water network areas of the south. The expert group composed of experts from multiple units such as South China Agricultural University, China National Machinery Industry Corporation, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences, and Nanjing Agricultural University carefully listened to the project proposal report, seriously discussed and questioned the relevant issues. Finally, they believed that the overall plan of the proposed new type of water and dry dual-purpose tractor was feasible.
